Stress, Headaches & High Blood Pressure

There are those times when stress is inevitable. No matter how much meditation or yoga, and no matter how many walks in the sun, sometimes stress is beyond our control.

This morning, I woke up with a throbbing headache, stuffy nose and a bit of nausea. Classic symptoms of stressors that stimulate allergies and elevate blood pressure. I immediately made a hemp and spirulina smoothie, hot herbal tea and a vitamin C flush drink to combat my symptoms and lower my blood pressure naturally. I'm feeling better now, but I will continue to vitamin C flush and drink teas and smoothies throughout the day. Not a bad way to detoxify, because it usually results in a 5 pound weight loss of excess fluid, mucous and toxins.

You may ask yourself, what does all of this have to do with me? If you're on my vitiligo blog, it has a lot to do with you. What strikes me is, the very herbals that are most effective in helping to regain pigment and to combat internal imbalances in those with vitiligo and other autoimmune diseases, are the same herbals that help to lower blood pressure, purify and thin the blood, increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain, aid circulation and stimulate lymph flow. These herbals also contain a lot of the nutrients that are low or lacking in those with vitiligo and other autoimmune diseases, in addition to having the very nutrients needed to combat and correct imbalances associated with vitiligo and other autoimmune and/or degenerative diseases.

The point of all of this is, instead of reaching for drugs and painkillers to ease symptoms, reach for nutrients and whole herbals that nourish your bodies with vitamins, minerals enzymes and phytonutrients that correct what is causing symptoms like headaches, rising blood pressure, sugar imbalances, itching, skin color loss, hair loss and other symptoms of a malnourished body. We are not what we eat. We are what we absorb. Absorption is a problem for those with vitiligo and other diseases. Whole, plant-based foods and herbals are extremely important to improving absorption.

The way that I take care of my vitiligo, based on my 35+ years of research and experience in helping myself and others, is why my vitiligo regimen is so successful, when followed. It takes a little discipline and a few lifestyle changes, but in the end, it's very much worth it. Your health, vitality and mood benefit, in addition to reversing diseases that are often considered incurable. We don't think in terms of cure. We think in terms of creating a healthful body that is capable of healing and repairing itself naturally.

We heal through nutrition, not drugs. We must balance our bodies to deal with the root cause of disease and get away from the culture of treating symptoms. The local farmer's markets are the best pharmacies. Let Food Be Thy Medicine, as Hippocrates directed.
