Roasted Brussel Sprouts

A delicious meal that is vegan, healthful and life-sustaining is a lifestyle choice that I strongly encourage for my clients.
One of my favorite recipes for a spicy kick is Chipotle Roasted Brussel Sprouts.
I was and marinate brussel sprouts in Chipotle seasonings and olive oil overnight. Spread evenly in a baking dish, I roast for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
Served over brown rice, brown fried rice or brown rice risotto, this is a very delicious and filling meal with a side salad and roasted red and yellow peppers. All organic, of course.

Agave, Fructose & The Devil in the Details

There once was a product on the market called "agave" that had no actual plant agave in it. It was a brand name for a high fructose corn syrup, which is not the same as the cactus-like plant, agave that is now so demonized among natural health providers.
All plants have sugar, or fructose, including agave. Agave has two important prebiotics that are also demonized lately -- inulin and FOS. Both have been around and used therapuetically; however the anti-agave movement has also demonized these prebiotics that are very helpful in aiding the body to make probiotics. I've used and recommended FOS to clients with autoimmune diseases for more than a quarter of a century for its healing abilities and properties. Prebiotics are the precursor to probiotics. Prebiotics are beneficial to health and wellness.
Now that fructose and agave have been sufficiently beaten to a pulp, the movement is now attacking honey, despite all its heatlhful benefits including antibacterial properties that help to curtail the overuse of antibiotics.
Every time you eat an apple or pear or watermelon, you're consuming fructose. The very word fructose is now more toxic than arsenic, if you believe all the anti-fructose hype. Fructose is fruit sugar, plain and simple. Our brains use sugar as fuel. We need it. As with all foods, it's best to eat the entire plant, so that you get the full benefits of fruit, including its fructose.
